Preamble

Imbila Publishers exists to serve Christ's Church by producing and distributing biblically faithful, gospel-centered, and theologically rich resources that strengthen believers, train pastors, and advance the mission of God across Africa. As a ministry of Central Africa Baptist University, our doctrinal commitments align with and flow from CABU's Confession of Faith—especially its core matters of "First Importance," which express the essential truths upon which the Christian faith stands or falls. We gladly uphold these convictions as the foundation and guardrails of our publishing ministry.

A Ministry of Central Africa Baptist University

Our Doctrinal Commitments

Ten essential truths that shape our ministry and publications

01

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible—consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments—is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, written by men moved by the Holy Spirit. As God's final authority for all faith, doctrine, and practice, Scripture is sufficient and trustworthy in every part.

02

The Triune God

We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three co-equal and co-eternal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, sovereign over creation, history, redemption, and judgment.

03

God the Father

We believe in God the Father, infinite in holiness, perfect in wisdom, justice, and love. He orders all things according to His perfect will, for His own glory and the good of His people.

04

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became fully man without ceasing to be fully God. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary and atoning death for sinners, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes as our Advocate and Great High Priest. He will personally and bodily return in power and glory.

05

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God, equal in essence with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates and indwells all believers, uniting them into the Body of Christ. He sanctifies, seals, gifts, and empowers believers for godly living and faithful service.

06

Humanity and Sin

We believe that all people are created by God in His image as male and female, with inherent worth, dignity, and moral responsibility. Through Adam's sin, humanity fell and is now sinful by nature and by choice, under God's just condemnation, spiritually dead, and unable to save themselves.

07

Salvation by Grace Through Faith

We believe that salvation is a free gift of God's grace, accomplished through the atoning work of Jesus Christ and applied by the Holy Spirit. Sinners are justified by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. All who repent and believe are forgiven, adopted as God's children, united to Christ and to His Church, and kept by God's power to the end.

08

The Church

We believe that all who trust in Christ are united by the Spirit into one true Church, the Body of Christ. Local churches are visible expressions of this Body, ordered according to Scripture, gathering for worship, the preaching of the Word, the ordinances, fellowship, prayer, and mission.

09

The Christian Life

We believe that all believers are called to lives of holiness, obedience, and spiritual growth through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. Though not without the presence of indwelling sin, Christians pursue Christlikeness, rejecting false teaching, resisting sin, and walking in love, truth, and purity.

10

Things to Come

We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ—in His coming judgment of the nations, the resurrection of the saved to eternal life, and the lost to eternal and conscious punishment in hell. God will establish a new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness dwells, and Christ will reign forever with His redeemed people.

Contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
